“For ‘Untitled’ I was thinking about the invisible structures we inherit, adopt and impose in order to make sense of our lives. The graphic outline alludes to these structures whilst gestural marks cascade and entwine around it, emblematic of life itself.” Hannah Bays, Artist
Contemplating ‘desire’ as the crux of the creative process, Bays is interested in human drives and the construction of meaning in our lives. The artist’s palette is reminiscent of the pastel hues of 1950s consumer lust, where colour is applied to seduce and manipulate the spectator.
Bays has work in the Jerwood, Hiscox and Soho House collections, was awarded a Jerwood Purchase prize in 2014 and the Agnes Ethel Mackay travel award in 2015.
This giclée print is on heavy, fine art Hahnemühle photo-rag paper. The smooth yet slightly textured surface of this paper allows for the highest quality reproduction of the original artwork. The inks used are archival and will not fade. Our metal frames are hand-made, using modern techniques to produce clean, sharp edges. We use UV filtering acrylic to protect the prints from sunlight.
